Recipe: Big Batch Cold Brew Coffee Made Easy

Wholesale Blog Home

Black Oak Coffee Roasters’ Cold Brew recipe is a refreshing and versatile way to highlight our meticulously sourced and roasted beans. Cold brew is a unique brewing method that extracts the nuanced flavors and aromas of coffee, resulting in a smooth, low-acidity beverage that can be enjoyed alone over ice or blended with cream and sugar for a personalized treat.

We recommend our efficient brewing and filtering system for easy management and consistently well-filtered cold brew batches. Equipment is purchasable through the Black Oak Portal.

This cold brew recipe uses ground coffee brewed in cold filtered water. Cold brew is steeped between 18-24 hours before being strained. Freshly steeped cold brew is very concentrated, so we add a small amount of cold water to the finished product to balance the flavor and consistency.

Cold Brew Iced Coffee Steps

  1. Add the Alto filter to the inside of the container with the spigot, fold the top of the filter over the edge to secure it.

  2. Add weighed ground coffee to the inside of the cold brew filter.

  3. Check to make sure the spigot is in the off position. Add half the amount of water, gently stir to fully saturate the coffee grounds. Then add the other half of the water.

  4. Cover the container and steep between 18-24 hours. We find it is helpful to put a piece of tape on the container so we can write the time the cold brew was assembled and when it should be strained.

  5. Drain into the final container by opening the spout. Once the cold brew becomes too low to pour through the spout, remove the filter and pour the remaining coffee into the final container.

  6. Add the final amount of filtered water to the cold brew.
