A new single-origin: Rio Negro, from Colombia

Blog Home

Rio Negro is a field blend of small farmers from the Cauca region and aims to highlight the terroir of this region. We love its classic chocolate, toffee, and caramel cup profile.

Here are the tasting notes... but do yourself a favor and get a bag or three...

Tasting notes: Rio Negro is a crowd pleasing coffee with layered brown sugars, milk chocolate and toffee with structured, mildly citric, acidity to balance the profile. This is not a bombastically fruity or acidic coffee, but a sweet coffee with syrup and honey like mouthfeel.

Producer notes: Rio Negro is a project that highlights unique flavor profiles in best coffee growing regions in Colombia. This lot comes from the Cauca department, on the west coast of the country on the Western slopes of the Andes. This lot is gathered from a series of roughly 5 acre farms at an average altitude of 1500 meters.

Varietals: Caturra, Colombia

Processing Method: Fully washed and sun dried

Pair With: Any breakfast food, good conversation

Size: 12oz

Roast level: Medium/Light
