We are honored to announce that we've won not one but two prestigious Gold Medals for our single origin coffees at the 2016 Compak Golden Bean North America Competition.
With over 700 total entrants, over 200 entrants for single origin pour over, and over 80 entrants for single origin espresso, Black Oak stood out in the competition. With its two gold medals, Black Oak emerged a winner in an event hailed as the largest roasting competition in the world.
Gedeb Lot 002, a beautiful washed Ethiopian coffee with tasting notes of ripe peach, and vibrant tropical fruit, is organically grown from the Worka Cooperative in the famous region of Yirgacheffe. Its full flavor brought out by careful roasting won Black Oak gold in the single origin pour over competition.
Banko, a vibrant naturally processed Ethiopia with notes of ripe berries, is also organically grown by the Banko Gotiti Cooperative, in Yirgacheffe. Black Oak’s meticulous roasting process with it earned them gold in the single origin espresso category.
