FAQ
Why Are You Doing This?
- to share the joy of local talent
- it's really cool as a musician to hear and/or know your music is being heard by your community in a public setting
We see this project as a way to really make *local* art/music a meaningful part of daily lives.
The music being created all around our region deserves to be heard by as many people as possible. It also should be easy to connect with and appreciate. Broadcasting this playlist makes that possible in a way that makes sense.
We hope our community finds new music that they love. We hope they're delighted to find out that it comes from right down the road.... and that they are playing a show this weekend!
We hope the musicians around us know we appreciate them and that they deserve to be heard.
We also hope they see how many others around them are creating, and that this could inspire and foster connection within the musical community.
Are There Any Rules?
- the artist must be native to or living in Mendocino or Sonoma Counties
- the music must be "cafe appropriate" - no bad words, nothing too abrasive. "Radio Friendly" if you will. We acknowledge and appreciate that not all great music can work in coffee shops, for better or for worse
- spam/overt and inappropriate self promotion are lame and really won't change anything about the playlist except get you taken off of it
Can I Submit Other People's Music?
Yes! As long as they are from or live in Mendocino/Sonoma Counties and the music is cafe appropriate, ie, not explicit
Can I Play A Show at Black Oak?
Maybe someday but not yet (and maybe not ever...) It's not really the goal here.
Fostering this type of connection (read "why are you doing this" above) is what we're good at. Running live shows isn't (yet).
