Tasting Notes

This unique coffee opens with bright citrus acidity. Sweet earthy notes of baker’s chocolate, cacao nibs, and fine tobacco bring balance to the cup. The cup finishes with notes of sweet dried fruit.

About The Producer

Peaberry coffee is unique in flavor and appearance. Peaberries account for around 5% of Arabica Coffee and are the result of a fruit containing a single seed instead of the usual two.

The beans are typically markedly smaller than normal coffee, which causes them to roast at a much different rate than their normal counterparts. The small, round, peaberries have higher surface:volume ratios than their larger counterparts, which changes the way the heat from roasting permeates the interior of the bean. As such, peaberries are typically sorted into unique lots containing only peaberries.

This lot of peaberries comes from the Mbeya region in the south west of Tanzania. Mbeya is located near the border of Zambia  in the Rift Valley. Mbeya is quite beautiful and features a number of national parks and protected areas. The climate and altitude of the region make it ideal for growing tea, coffee and a vast array of other agricultural goods.

How To Brew This Washed Process Single Origin Coffee

A 1:14 brew ratio with water of around 200°F yields well-balanced, aromatic cups.
