Aricha Natural opens with the unmistakable flavors of strawberries, blueberries, and cherries. The pleasant acidity associated with those red fruits is mellowed by a caramel sweetness. But, unlike most naturally processed coffees, this coffee doesn’t stop there. This coffee finishes with apricot, peach, jasmine, and honeysuckle aromatics that are associated with exceptional washed Ethiopian coffees.
Producer Notes: This coffee gets its name from the Aricha washing station where this coffee is processed. The washing station is located less than 10 miles outside of the legendary coffee town of Yirgacheffe. Coffee is native to, and therefore extremely well adapted to, this lush, jungle, region of Ethiopia. It grows in the 4-5’ deep, rich, red-brown clay soils, and is known for its sweet florality and sparkling acidity.
The climate and careful drying techniques used to produce this coffee facilitate a gentle, unique, fermentation of the coffee fruit, which helps impart much of the berry and cherry favor this coffee has to offer.
This coffee was imported by UUMA Coffee Traders, and Ethiopian owned and operated company that has made meaningful steps to provide more direct trade relations for Ethiopian farmers.
This coffee produces great cups with a wide range of brew techniques. We recommend using between a 1:12 and 1:15 brew ratio and steeping with water between 195-205℉ for no more than three and a half minutes.
