We’re pretty excited about this one. Hailing from the famed Yirgacheffe growing region in SW Ethiopia, Adame Gorbota comes from a cooperative of the same name, bearing hallmark characteristics of pristine washed Ethiopian coffees. This coffee’s a showstopper, we can’t wait to hear what you think.
About the producers The Adame Gorbota Cooperative is in the heart of the famous Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia. With about 500 members, each farming at 1,800 - 2,000 meters above sea level, the coop has an exclusive relationship with our importer, meaning we get access to the best lots they produce each year. This coffee is from Lot 005. Why does that matter? It’s one way we preserve transparency in our supply chain and make sure this stunning coffee and its producers get the credit they deserve.
Varietial: Heirloom As the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia is home to a diverse selection of native varieties, often growing right next to each other. A lot of times, these varietals may not even be categorized or named, but collected together and called Heirloom, not unlike a field blend in the wine world. Brewing Delicate, washed, high-grown Ethiopian coffees — especially on the light side of the roast spectrum — can be tough to brew properly. We say keep it simple — stick to a solid pour-over recipe that’s forgiving (don’t go nuts with grind-size adjustments). Remember, if the cup’s tasting sour, go for a finer grind; if it’s bitter, coarsen it up.
