Costa Rica - La Rosa
La Rosa: the whole cup — balanced, delightful, and clean as can be
Roast level: Medium/Light
Varieties: Caturra, Catuai, Obata, and Sarchimor Processing Method: Washed
Tasting notes: Cocoa and apple crisp throughout, faint lemon zest to finish
Producer notes: Like the country itself, Costa Rican coffees bridge a gap between established traditions and unexpected delights. Costa Rica La Rosa delivers on subtlety, with a balanced cup full of cocoa and relaxed fruit flavors. This coffee surprises with nuanced acidity — nothing overpowering here, but enough brightness to dance around on your palate. La Rosa hails from a decades-old cooperative in Costa Rica’s Alajuela province. With a membership that includes an all-star list of famed Costa Rican coffee producers, the Coopronaranjo co-op farmers each hold about 20 acres on average. More than world-class coffees, the co-op works to grow their own community with educational and school supply programs, volunteering, and serving disabled neighbors with their Talita Cumi program.
