Burundi - Munyinya Hill Lot 1
Roast level: Medium/Light
A beautiful, sweet, micro-lot coffee from family farms in Burundi
Tasting notes: Maple Sugar, Black Tea, Dried Fruit
Producer notes: Nearly 100 small-holding family farms in northern Burundi have a hand in this special coffee, Munyinya Lot 1. A hill, or “coline” is the smallest unit of social organization in Burundi. Around Munyinya Hill, farmers travel with their cherries to the Heza washing station, where their harvest is held in separate lots to preserve the distinct flavors that come from each hill.
Community impact: The Long Miles Coffee Project built the Heza washing station in 2014, connecting roasters from around the world with farmers in Burundi. Through careful picking, processing, and meticulous lot separation, the Long Miles Coffee Project is helping farmers, roasters, and coffee lovers share in the beautiful coffees of the small communities in Burundi, one of the world’s poorest nations.
Processing method: Washed
