Ethiopian coffees are wholly unique in their flavor profiles. Berry and fruit notes abound from good natural lots, so everyone on our tasting staff immediately knew that this coffee was a natural Ethiopian. This microlot coffee offers less than subtle notes of strawberry, with a malty sweetness and a chocolate finish.
Producer Notes: Coffee is native to Ethiopia, as such the Ethiopian terroir has had millenia to shape coffee as a species as well as the human culture surrounding the coffee to fit the form of the terroir. The unique synergy between coffee, terroir, and culture, even extends into the microscopic realm. Belgian beers, San Franciscan sourdough, and natural Ethiopian coffee all all made unique by the microbiota present in those regions. Sure, naturally processed coffee exists outside of Ethiopia; but nowhere else has the unique combination of climate, culture, heirloom coffee varieties, and wild microbiota that make natural Ethiopian coffees so delicious. Ethiopian coffee is uniquely elegant- raw, yet refined beyond the abilities of humans alone. Ethiopian coffee is truly a thing of beauty and Mokamba exemplifies natural Ethiopian coffee.
