We are continuing to celebrate female coffee farmers and support women’s health initiatives with our delicious new single origin roast from an all-female Cooperative in Colombia. Black Oak Coffee’s project to support an organization dedicated to women’s health in our origin countries is the only one of its kind in the United States.

Tasting Notes

This coffee opens with the balanced flavor of cacao nibs. As the flavor continues, the cacao nibs are transformed into a semi-sweet, bakers chocolate by the remarkable amount of sweetness this coffee brings to the table. The abundant sweetness is well balanced by a mild acidity, reminiscent of white grapes, as well as just a hint of the traditional bitterness of good Colombian coffee.

About the Producers

Quince is named for the 15 exceptional leaders of the Alimucaes female producer group in Huila colombia. The 310 farmers organized themselves into fifteen or “quince” groups, each group responsible for not only growing coffee, but producing other value added products such as fish, pigs, milk, chickens, and eggs to support their families. They combine their individual small family farms into leadership groups which each contribute to this lot of coffee.

How to Brew

This coffee produces great cups with a wide range of brew techniques. We recommend using between a 1:12 and 1:15 brew ratio and steeping with water between 195 and 205℉ for no more than three and a half minutes.

Social Impact

In addition to sourcing from 100% female owned coffee farms, 10% of all profits from this coffee go to support Grounds for Health, which is an organization which screens for and treats cervical cancer in coffee producing regions. By identifying a health issue with a known solution and focusing on access, Grounds for Health is able to dramatically reduce the mortality rate from cervical cancer in developing countries. Black Oak Coffee’s project with Grounds for Health is the only one of its kind in the United States. Read more about Grounds for Health.
