Exclusive to the tasting club, this lot takes its name from the naranjilla fruit which shares some flavor characteristics with this coffee: sweet, bright acidity and notes of berry, rhubarb, and citrus. This coffee is dominated by heaping amounts of cane sugar and sweet fruit notes rounded out by piquant berry and grape acidity.
About the Producers
Once again, the intricate, labor intensive processing by the team at Finca Chambaku, has resulted in superb cup quality. Available only in extremely limited quantities, this coffee is sorted even more meticulously than the coffee cherry that is used to produce their main lot of natural process coffee.
The Naranjilla, from which this coffee takes its name, is common between Costa Rica and Ecuador, but is hardly available outside those areas due to the fruit’s fragility and it’s inability to be cultivated en masse due to its inability to tolerate full sunlight.
How to Brew
This coffee produces bright, fruit forward cups with brew ratios on the order of 1:16.
