Minas Tasting Notes
This exceptionally clean Brazilian cup has a pleasing, round mouthfeel with nuanced flavors of milk chocolate, hazelnut, with hints of dried fruit. This is an extremely delicious coffee that is an excellent choice as a single origin espresso or a drip coffee.
Minas takes its name from the Brazillian State of Minas Gerais in which it was grown. Known as the state of “coffee with milk,” due to the incredible amount of dairy and coffee grown there, Minas Gerais contains a wealth of natural resources. The concentration of water, fertile land, as well as gold and mineral resources, unfortunately brought brutal Portuguese colonization to Minas Gerais, much to the ire of the residents there. Mistreatment of residents, along with heavy taxes and enlightenment ideas of equality and liberty, helped fuel a number of rebellions against the Portugesse. The lack of success in these rebellion and Brazillian Unification efforts led Minas Gerais to adopt the motto “Freedom, albeit late,” when they finally achieved independence.
Processing Method: Brazilian Natural
How to brew
This coffee produces great cups with a wide range of brew techniques. We recommend using between a 1:12 and 1:15 brew ratio and steeping with water between 195 and 205℉ for no more than three and a half minutes.
