We blended two fruited natural coffees to give Thirteenth Sun a complex, sweet and fruity body featuring flavors of strawberry, blueberry and cherry. Finally, we added a washed process coffee from the Yirgacheffe region to give the blend an elegant finish of apricot and jasmine. The result is complex, balanced, fruity, and elegant.
Producer Notes: We blended the best of Ethiopia’s flavors together by combining three distinct single origin coffees from different cooperatives. The name comes from a novel by contemporary Ethiopian novelist Dagache Werku, as well as the Ethiopian tourism tagline “Thirteen Months of Sunshine.” “Thirteenth” refers to the traditional Ethiopian calendar, which features 12 months of thirty days and a thirteenth month, called Pagume, which lasts for 5 days.
